Fran Off Double Elimination Tournament

The story as told by MJJ, edited by the peanut gallery, and re-told by yours truly:
Last Saturday, CFO athletes got together for a double elimination "Fran" Tournament whereby, teams randomly chosen from a hat went head-to-head for a minimum of two rounds of Fran. There were no minimum reps and no strategy rules, each team completed 21-15-9 Thruster/Pull-Ups done to exacting standards. The teams that lost two times were out of the tournament--those that persevered continued on.
In the final analysis, Candace and Jacques took the lead when the spirited duo combined, grit, athleticism and an every-second-counts strategy. The $400 prize (given by a generous anonymous donor) was split between the two winners!
People's Choice Awards:
"The Grit Award": Megan on Thruster Island
'The Diva Off": Davey
"PSR" (Premature Shirt Removal): Tom and Brandon

Jacques' cool, detached demeanor during the Fran-Off frightened me.
Way to go Jaques and Candace! I totally would have done it if I was feeling healthy enough. So yes, more of these would be good.
Fran Highlights.

I think Brandon should get an award for most total thrusters done.
Thanks again for putting it on--it was a lot of fun.
I was thinking that, should we ever do this again, it would be interesting to have an award go to the team with the single fastest time.
I would like to do more of these. Aaron NewG - good talkin' with you about stuff today. send me your email.
The Fran-off was really fun and showed, once again, how many great athletes CFO has. We should definitely have more of these. Props to MJJ for keeping things organized and moving, that was a big job.
On another note, are we sprinting tonight?
I'm really sorry I missed the Fran-off it sounded like alot of fun.
I am down for the Piedmont track workout tonight, since it rained last week, is it still at 6?
Let's get a head count for sprints tonight.
I wanted to give a shout to both Joseph and Aaron for gettin' after it with me during the Fran-Off. Both you guys went balls-out every time we were up. Aaron, sorry I left you with an endless amount of pull-ups.
Ill try to be there. I enjoy the convo as well jp. Mjj sign up for the regionals already!
Thanks everyone! Such a positive experience for me to be a part of the cfo crowd.
MJJ, you haven't signed up yet? Are you serious? Sevan dubbed you the "Human Ferrari." You can't let him down.
it was good seeing some of you today...
Count me in for the sprints and the birthday celebration.
About the sprints, I've read that in a 100m sprint, the first 20m (approximately) are run leaning forward with short steps (about 50cm at first and gradually increasing to the full stride length). The problem is that I read this from the all-knowing internet, not sure if these numbers apply to people with 10-second 100s, your average college track athlete, only people over 7 feet tall, etc.
I'm not going to make it to the track tonight. Next week, for sure!
Great to see you, P! You'll be your old self again before you know it.
I think the best part about the Fran-off was the penalty for doing well. If you win, you have to do Fran again. And again. And again. I am always in favor of needless discomfort and the Fran-off fit the bill nicely. I had a very good time.
The short duration workout was a nice change from the longer, multi-exercise competitions recently.
Also, is anyone in need of a roomie for the qualifiers?
Thanks to everyone who came to the Piedmont Track tonight. I had a great time showing you all the "Fun" hill and stair runs through the canyon. Anytime I'm on duty I'd be more then happy to come down to the track and do some running.
Thanks for leading the workout Justin.
Jacques rocks!
Bummed I missed the track but I did get some running in after all my overhead drops!
